Food and laughter have always been my best medicine.
Healing with food saved my life. I grew up with Lymes disease which destroyed my body and mind. I suffered from depression, extreme anxiety attacks, sleepwalking, bloating. I was forgetful, horribly sluggish, in a lot of nerve and joint pain, and extremely cranky from all of this. Medication was nothing but a bandaid. Finally, in my early 20s a holistic doctor told me my body was so acidic that my organs didn’t have time to work on what they were supposed to be working on. That my body was taking too much time digesting processed food and meat. That bleached, processed flour and sugar are hard for the average person to digest. And that someone like me already struggling needed antioxidants and nutritious food. This sent me on a path of research, studying Ayurveda, doing yoga and meditation, and completely changing my diet. Within 6 months, I felt like a different person. I forever am a whole new being. My skin, hair, and body changed. I am so thankful for my teachers. They tell me eating dead food will make you feel dead. and I DID feel that way! I saw results and now I will never go back. Unfortunately, I still have severe joint pain which I work with herbs and an acupuncturist to relieve these symptoms. Two books that I reread religiously because they have been so informative: Healing with Wholefoods and The Amazing Liver/Gallbladder Flush. I suggest anyone read these if they are interested in knowing how food effects your body. Please see the documentary Forks over Knives and read The China Study for even more info! Another person I follow is Doctor Mercola who promotes healing and wellness. I am a huge advocate of liver cleanses, hydro colon therapy, cooking vegan/gluten free food, raw foods, vegetable juices, food combining, and acupuncture. I am interested in your story and will support you in any way to better your health. This blog is for health and wellness inspiration. None of these photos are mine unless stated.
